Privacy
No cookies, no analytics, no third parties. Our server keeps a security log for 7 days and anonymous daily counts. The Mail check never records the domain you check.
What our server records
Like almost every web server, ours writes an access log: for each request, your IP address, the time, the address of the page or file requested, whether it worked, and the headers your browser sends with the request, such as its name and version and the page that linked here. We keep it for security (to spot and block abuse) and to find and fix errors. It is rotated every day, and each day’s log is deleted automatically after 7 days.
From the log, our server also keeps anonymous daily counts: how many requests each page had on each day, and whether they worked. The counts contain no IP addresses and no browser details, so they cannot be linked to you. They tell us which tools are used.
What is never recorded
The Mail check sends the domain you type to our server inside the request, not in the page address, so it does not appear in the access log. The service that checks it asks the domain’s own DNS servers for its public mail records, answers you, and keeps no record of the domain or of who asked: it is not written to any log, file or database. At most, the DNS answers are held in memory for up to 30 seconds, so that repeated checks do not flood the domain’s DNS servers.
If you share a result link such as zeromile.tools/mail/#example.com, the domain is in the part after the #, which browsers never send to any server.
The Tap tempo and metronome runs entirely in your browser. Your taps and settings never leave your device.
Cookies and third parties
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising code. Everything it uses, including the fonts, is served from zeromile.tools, so your browser makes no requests to anyone else while you are here. We do not sell, share or rent the logs or the counts.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Zero Mile Contract Limited, an Isle of Man company, company number 134620C. You can reach us at contact@zmcontract.com.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Because the access log is deleted after 7 days and the counts are anonymous, by the time we read your message there is usually nothing left that could identify you, so most requests resolve themselves. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Isle of Man Information Commissioner or to the data protection authority where you live.
